Swim Lessons end

Wow. The girls did so well with swim lessons this year. Friday was the last day for this session. Brenna is diving under water and retrieving the dive sticks/rings and wanting desperately to swim on her own! She's not there yet, but is more than willing and wanting to learn. She's close to being able to keep herself up, but not quite.

She did get her certificate of completion (last names blotted out for privacy) and we went ahead and re-registered her for another session of swim lessons starting up again in 2 weeks (you do get a discount on your second round of lessons and as adventurous as she is, we thought it can't hurt!).

Meanwhile, then there's Brooke. Wow. Is all I can say. I am so impressed with her natural abilities with swimming. When I asked her teacher about re-registering her...if we should bump her up to Level 2 (she's in Level 1 now) or keep her in Level 1, her teacher said, "oh yea, .... definitely Level 2, if not 3!" (and 3 is where they max out). :O They keep telling us she needs to be on swim team. They keep referring to her as "our Olympic swimmer". And every time its her time to swim or go off the slide or whatever else, all the instructors there are awed by her abilities. Its pretty awesome.

Here's Brooke's progress report from the last day (she also got a certificate, but thought I'd share this instead)...

I really think she has a natural knack for this and really consider swim team for her. I don't want to ask her about it just yet b/c I know she'll want to do it and Brad's not exactly on board with it yet. :/ But in the meantime, we went ahead and did re-register her for another round of lessons, only in Level 2 (all the kids in Level 3 are really much older...not wanting to take it so fast), for the same session Brenna will be in. And we'll see from there...

The last day of class she got another opportunity to go down the slide, which is basically just a chance for her to be in the spotlight of all the parents and teachers watching her. Most kids (even the older ones) have to be 'caught' first, then be sent off from the teacher to swim to the side. Brooke just goes all on her own. And in fact, if you listen, before she heads down the slide, you can hear the teacher call her 'the Olympic swimmer' and how she just goes on autopilot and then they actually even applaud for her! Crazy I tell you. I can't wait till she starts learning to dive!
