Learning to read

So, we got some bad news this week. Our beloved preschool teacher has decided to retire and close the school after this year. We are so thankful for the education foundation she has given to Brooke who is reading on 2nd-3rd grade levels and doing math on 1st-2nd grade levels, even though she is just now in Kindergarten. However, Brooke will be going 'off' to 1st grade next year. So this decision doesn't really affect her.
Brenna, on the other hand, has only had her first year with Ms Lydia and has 2 more years before going into Kindergarten (which if Ms Lydia would've stayed, she, too would've done Kindergarten with her). Ms Lydia tells us this two days ago and then yesterday proceeds to show me how far Brenna is coming with HER reading. She just started Book One with her in the Palo Alto Reading books. And remember, she's only TWO! Anyway, so, needless to say we are pretty down in the dumps about this change of events. But Ms Ldyia has agreed to still work with the younger kiddos on the side to teach them reading and writing. In the meantime, we're shopping for new preschools, but all the while with the high bar set by Lydia and her school and quickly coming to realization that we'll never have it as good. :(

All this to get to the point....

Brooke watches Brenna reading at school with Ms Lydia. And for the record, she is VERY concerned about where Brenna will be next year. We have showed her where she will be going and she's like, ok. whatever. But she is concerned about where Brenna will be. During our 'talk times' at night before bed, she has expressed her concern over and over again. :( She's tried to talk Ms Lydia into just staying to teach the little kids. And she even wanted to start her own little mini-revolution where she got all the kids to say, while sitting on the blue line at school, how much they wanted Ms Lydia to stay.
Anyway, so yesterday, I overheard something pretty cute in the playroom. So I popped in with my video camera and shot this... (and this had been going on already for about 10-15 min before I got there, so Brenna was close to being done ;)....

And I'll include this video for you too. Because what started out going downhill, just went on from there to these crazy spells of laughter. :)

Oh my gosh, one of these days me and the girls are going to have to come up and visit just to have a playdate! They are reminding me so much of Sophia and Gianna in those videos!

Connor came over to watch. I asked him "What do you see?" And he said "Mrs. Cantu." That's the name of his reading teacher. Ha!
