The stage was set. We were predicted to get 1-3 inches of snow...for days before it actually happened. The kids were so excited. Schools were shutting down. Businesses announcing late starts to the day. You know how us Southerners get all giddy over the white stuff. And if you don't, here's a funny clip to show you...
Pretty funny. But actually, what makes it funny is that its so very true! LOL
Anyway, at our household our kids were pretty giddy over it as well, waking up to a blanket of snow covering the yard is very exciting to a 5 and 2 year old. What's ironic is that Brooke has seen it at least once a year for the last three years at her house...she's coming to expect it a normal occurrence where we live.
Here's our street early in the morning before any disturbances...
And the front of our house...
The back yard...
And lots of random pictures of our kids enjoying the snow...
Teaming up!...
Brooke decided she wanted to jump on the trampoline...
She couldn't get much of a reaction when she jumped, so Daddy had to get on and try his hand...
And here's our Texas version of a "sled"...haha!
You can see Barkley in this picture. He was LOVING the cold weather and snow, running and having just as much (if not more!) fun in it than the kids. Bailey, however...well, yea. We didn't see him outside much at all during the day. :P
We'd stay out playing for a bit, then the girls would want to run in and warm up by the fire. :)
The snow only lasted for one full morning. Then it quickly started to melt away. And, in fact, today we are back in the 50's or higher, wearing short sleeves. Ahh...gotta love Texas weather! After the roads were safe again, but before all the snow melted, we headed up to a local park to play some more. While there, the local news crew came by and asked to film us and to get a comment from Brad. We obliged and were later on a 30 second story on the 10p news! If you're interested, here's a link to the story (you have to click 'play' on the video next to the title of the article to see it).
