The girls' last work night. Ever. *sniff sniff*...
They had their work night at school last night, where they get to show off what they are learning and doing every day. Brooke even decided to forego dance class in order to get to go to all of work night, instead of missing a portion, while in dance.
Of course, we are amazed all the time at the work that Brooke is bringing home these days. Her math is on grade level 1-2. She just started learning to carry and take away when adding bigger numbers. And they've scratched the surface on multiplication too. She is reading solid 2nd grade level and really into 3rd grade now. The reading book she is on now that Ms Lydia is reading with her is actually a little beneath what she is reading at home for us.
Brenna is described constantly to us by Ms Lydia as a great worker. She said she often forgets she is even there and starts to panic - "where's Brenna?" - only to time and time again find Brenna busily working on a project of some sort. She is starting to work on reading with her. When she started school in the Fall she knew all of her letters AND the sounds they all made. But the first semester at school was spent getting used to the system and maturing a bit more. She is only two after all... Now, she is beginning to work on 3 letter words with her and sounding out stuff. And Brenna is getting it! She even has her own bookmark at school now in her own reading book. :)
Here's some pics from the night...

Brenna, always busy on something...
More reading...
Book 7!
And Brenna practicing her reading...here she has to read the word and match it with the right object. Lydia really likes them to 'master' this before moving to the reading books and Brenna's been doing so well with it that she just started the reading books with her this week!
And to prove this fact, here is video of Ms Lydia teaching her how to read...(and she did much better as soon as I turned off the camera..of course! Also, pay no attention to her constant bouncing. She only was doing that b/c she wasn't focused, being late at night, etc)..
And this has nothing really related to any sort of 'education', but rather, Brooke's newfound talent of the hula hoop. Just out of nowhere, she became this awesome hula-hooper!
