Her first day of 'preschool' (Mother's Day Out) at Kingdom Kids at Grace Bible Church. August 2006... (she was a year and a half old! Brenna's age now!)... Still at Kingdom Kids, Augus 2007... (take note of the flip flops - she can still wear these same flip flops! 2 yrs later! I just noticed that when uploading this picture and thought that was impressive for shoes to last that long!)...
Starting at Montessori Schoolhouse, this time last year, August 2008...
And here we are today, as she got ready for the first day back at school...August 2009...
She decided on her own outfit for the first day..down to the very coordinating shoes I might add! She also got to pick out a brand new lunchbox for the year.
And I'll leave you with a rather humurous video of Brooke explaining a few days ago what Ms Lydia told her to do this Summer. You have to know Ms Lydia to really appreciate, she is the nicest person in the world, but Brooke is making her sound like a slave driver! Haha. Can't wait to show Ms Lydia this video!
My little 'baby' growing up... Its hard to look at these pictures and not realize how quickly they grow up. And when over the last year did she get so much taller?!? Notice the difference b/w the two Montessori pics (by the door)? When did THAT happen?
Anyway, she had a great day! She was a little relunctant to go back, suprisingly enough to me! She has always looooooved school. But when you take into account what a fun summer we had - Seaworld, Wildlife ranch (two times!), Great Wolf lodge, Blue Bell, visiting Shannon and riding the jetski, etc etc etc.... who would want to go back to the mundane school life I suppose. Plus, not to mention the fact that getting up early this morning was not fun...we've all been sleeping in till about 9 each day! But really, she fessed up later and told me she was just not excited because none of her old friends would be there. Only one graduated last year from Kindergarten (and that one was one of her favorites!), but several more parents opted for their 5yr olds to go into public school Kindergarten, so it does seem like a lot of kids left this year. But as soon as she went today and got into the old swing of things, she was happy as could be! She is close to one of the oldest now (there are several 4yr olds), so that's different for her. Moving to more of a leader than a follower, but she's already saying how much she loves school again and can't wait to go back!
