A Man's (or Baby's) Best Friend

We still have to kennel Barkley every time we leave the house. He's still a puppy and likes to tear things up when we leave him. So every time, into the kennel he goes. Now that he has a bigger kennel, he doesn't mind it so much.

Today, I took Brooke took school and locked Barkley in the kennel before we left. Brenna and I came straight back home, so we were only gone like all of 10 minutes - maybe. So, I immediately go over and open his kennel door when we get back home. Well, he didn't come out. Guess he wasn't through with his nap. Brenna thought something must be wrong, so she decided I suppose that if he wouldn't come out, she would go in. She really does love him THIS much...
And, while I'm over here posting about our dogs, I thought I'd give my readers a look into what its like being a two-dog parent. These are our nightly sleeping arrangements, as of now. You see we have a bookcase style headboard and the spot directly in the center of the headboard is open (intention would be for add'l books). We put a pillow in there and Bailey has claimed that as his spot ever since.
Barkley started out sleeping at the foot of the bed...you know, back when he was a cute little furball. Now, he's a big huge furball and takes up half of our king-size bed. He gets kicked around down there till he finds a comfortable place. He is particularly fond of our bed b/c 1) it's a sateen comforter, so its very cool material to lay on top of, and 2) the foot of our bed is directly under the AC vent. So what's better than a cool comforter? A cool comforter underneath cool air blowing on you. :-) He's no dummy.
Brad isn't so fond of Barkley's sleeping arrangements anymore. Now that he's gotten/getting so big (at last check he was 44 lbs and won't be a year old until December), it may be time to force him to sleep elsewhere. :( Poor Barkley....

I know about the sleeping arrangements with a dog. Athena is over 70 pounds and she sleeps on our bed most of the time. Thank goodness it's king size!
