Triple Parenting

This past week, Brad had to go out of town for a training seminar for work. I was not looking forward to single parenting...at. all. Turns out, I didn't have to! My sister, Shannon, was kind enough to drive to our house to let Brad take her more reliable, fuel-efficient, air conditioned car and she (and her stepdaughter, Kelli) stayed with me and the kids while he was gone. For a little girl time. :-)

Turns out that instead of worrying about single parenting...I got the benefit of having triple parents. While Shannon is helpful herself, I was much surprised at just HOW helpful Kelli was as well. The kids love love LOVE her (even Brenna!) and she was a big help toting them around, getting Brenna in and out of the car, feeding them, putting them to bed, playing with them, and many more things. She was so loved in fact, that Brooke cried hysterically the one day Kelli hung out with some teenage kids (see previous post regarding cousins that were in town) for the afternoon. She kept saying, "But I want Kelli...I really really like her....!!!" (insert whiny, crying voice here).

Coincidentally, one of the days they were here was picnic day at Brooke's school. So we all got to go and enjoy a picnic lunch with Brooke.
After the picnic lunch at school, we headed over to the park across the street and fed the ducks. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more...Brooke or Brenna. Brenna was signing "duck" like crazy while squealing and Brooke got a kick out of how close they actually got, eating the bread out of her hands even! Of course, it hadn't rained in forever, but chose this particular day to come a-stormin. It rained HARD while we were there and we eventually left and got soaked. But it was worth it - and heck, I joked that if that is what it took to get it to rain, we would go feed the ducks every day! LOL

Anyway, so big thanks to Shannon and Kelli for coming to visit and play and have fun with us and for letting Brad use the car. I think I got a tad bit spoiled with all the extra hands! :-)
