Good morning - and what a good morning it was for us! We woke Brooke up at 7 to see the pile of presents beside the tree and the "big dog from Sam's" in the middle of them all. She awoke to find the stockings full to the rim! The cookies and carrots and milk were gone. And come to find out, Santa must've really liked our cookies b/c he even went to the kitchen and ate the rest of them that we hadn't laid out for him. And he dropped one small gift and it got stuck in the chimney. We've determined Santa must've been really hungry and in a big hurry!
First things first, we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus, blew out the candle, and had a piece of cake for breakfast. We are sure to put the reason for the season first! Unwrapping presents could wait.
But then Brooke was soooo surprised to see all the presents and her dog. And she loved helping each of us go through our stockings. She was so sweet to Brenna showing her each one of her treasures one at a time. She also had a blast tearing open every package for her and 'helping' Brenna with hers.
Before we dove into family gifts, we took a break to let Brenna eat her breakfast - no....no cake for her yet. Then after she was done and after we had ample playing time with our Santa gifts, we exchanged gifts from one another. Brooke is THRILLED with her Fisher Price digital camera and has not stopped taking pictures yet. She also got a few new movies and games for her Leapster as well as games for her new LeapPad she got from Sammy last night. There were tons of other toys and things that are filling our living room right now and I'm sure we'll spend the entire day and the next and the next playing with all the new fun things.
Brad was surprised with his pressure washer he's been wanting forever and a few books and iTunes and other such things.
I was surprised with a reciept for the newest Roomba!!! I am so beyond excited to get it! I cannot wait! I also got a few iTunes gift cards, because yes, I finally have an iPod (Touch) that I got from Sammy last night. Yay! I can join the rest of the world!
Everyone is so happy and we've had a blast this morning. The fun will continue when my mom and dad get here this afternoon to exchange yet more gifts and to eat a big Christmas dinner. We are all on sugar highs I think from all the candy Santa left in our stockings, but it sure is fun for this one day out of the year.
It is important for us to remember and reiterate to Brooke the real meaning behind all of this - the presents and the holiday in general. I want the girls to know, understand and appreciate what God has done for us in giving us His only Son. No greater gift can ever be given. So Merry CHRISTmas everyone!
Enjoy our pics from this morning....More to come later from this afternoon!
