Garden talk

We've spent the last few days keeping an eye on Brooke's flowerbed, waiting for those first buds to bloom. Today, she was outside playing and ran in the house out of breath and was so excited. "Mommy!!! My flowers!!! They bloomed! And there's a red one AND a yellow one! Come look - quick!" She was so excited so I followed her out and sure enough, this is what we found:She's been tending to her garden since the beginning, way back when planting the original seeds and watering them as needed. (Click here to see the beginnings of her garden.) Today her hard work finally reaped the benefits and she was so thrilled!

And, while we're on the subject of gardens, here's an updated picture of our veggie/fruit garden:

It's doing well and we've gotten sevaral tomatos, peppers, and strawberries already! Today, when I took the picture, the only noticeable bloom was a couple strawberries, so that's the only picture you get of that today:
And, I'll end with a funny Brooke story. I have to admit I was not a witness to the conversation, but it still made me laugh. Hoping it will you too!
My mom and Brad and Brooke were riding in the car. Brooke and Nana were talking about the dogs. Our dog, Bailey, in particular. I'm not exactly sure how the conversation started, but it ended with Nana trying to get Brooke to annunciate the "L" in Bailey. She still has troubles with her 'l's' you see and has always pronounced Bailey wrong - she says it like "Bay ee". So my mom was trying to get her to say "Bay Lee".

They went back and forth, my mom asking her "Now which dog was it? "
Brooke: "Bay ee"
Nana: "But can you say 'Bay Lee' " (emphasizing the second syllable)
Nana: "Now which dog was it?"
Brooke: "Bay ee"
Nana: "Bay LEE!" "Now which dog was it?
Brooke: (sighs) "you know....the white dog."

LOL!!!
