Life.... it happens.

In the midst of the business of the last couple weeks of summer (where I was literally trying to squeeze in as much fun as possible), meet the teachers, major construction going on at our house (in 2 places at the same time - ha!  Yes, we are crazy), my mom decided to come over one day to visit us.  She was here all of 10 minutes when she tripped on a board on our deck and fell, crashing down on her wrist, breaking the bone.  Her arm was literally disatttached from her hand.  As far as her arm was from her hand, I was honestly quite surprised the bone didn't break the skin.  :/

We rushed her to the ER, where they put her under to try to 'set it' after a revealing Xray that Brad snapped a picture of...

Yea.  Crazy wow right?

Anyway, turned out the surgeon happened to be at the hospital and decided to go ahead and admit her to do the surgery the next day that would put a plate and seven screws in to rebuild her wrist.  The surgery went well and she was left with a soft cast.  The hospital stay was not pleasant but after a few days she was came home to stay with us amidst all the craziness until she could go to her followup, where they removed the soft cast, took out the stitches and put her in a velcro removable splint.  She's back home now and is doing ok...but recovery is still a long road!

Fortunately for Toodles (her dog), she got lots of alone time with Barkley...who she's secretly in love with.  (not kidding :P)
