Holy Heads

My daughters now have holes in their heads.  Again (for Brooke).

That's right...  they got their ears pierced.  You might remember some time ago, Brooke had hers done. She wore them for months and months and then had a traumatic experience with them.  Read the full story HERE for a refresher if you want (its kinda in the middle of that post).   So she's been without earrings for a good couple of years now.  Saying 'never again' for a while.  Until recently..

She started saying she REALLY wanted to get her ears pierced again.  No way.  No how.  Ain't happening.  I was a little against it (I wasn't going through what we went through AGAIN!), Brad was VERY against it.  She kept pleading, bargaining, and eventually begging.  After telling her we weren't doing all that again...we finally agreed, fine.  If she paid for it herself, and if at any time she griped or cried or put up a fight against taking care of them, they would come out immediately, we then agreed to let her do it (under those terms).

So off we went to Claire's.  She was ready.  Trying to choose THE earrings to pierce with was harder - they came out with some cuter piercing earrings since last time!  She really wanted the cross earrings but was wanting to settle for others since they didn't have the cross ones in stock.  The lady told us they'd be getting some in any day if we wanted to wait.  I talked her into waiting - to get what you really want and have to wear for 8 weeks!  So we went home, called every day, and for 3-4 days, no cross earrings came in.  She finally said she wanted to go get them done and 'get it over with' regardless.  If they had the cross ones, she would get them, if not she'd get something else.  'Get it over with' meaning, she was still anxious about the actual piercing part.  ;)

So we went back to Claire's and they did not have the cross ones, so she decided on a rainbow daisy flower one.  Brenna watched.  (as of this point, SHE was now wanting to get hers done...we thought by watching Brooke, she would be deterred)  I love the sequence of pictures I got next....

Getting ready, listening to the instructions and how to clean, turn them, etc...

Getting them cleaned beforehand (getting a little nervous here)....

Bracing down for it (yea, I know this is gonna hurt.  I've done this before.  It hurts).....

Ok, yes.  It hurts.  Wait for it.  Other ear.  I can do this.  Bracing down a little harder this time....

Whew!  It's done.  It hurt.  Only one tear slowly dripped out of her eye.

And two minutes later, totally fine.  Can't even feel it.

The same lady did it this time as last time (not that she remembers, but I do) and she's very experienced with it all.  She said she could actually tell she went back through the same holes as before (they were still visible dots) and could feel it even go in easier.  So hopefully this time she will have no troubles.  No rubber backs allowed this time!!!

So then.  On to Brenna.  She watched.  She waited.  She contemplated.  She really wanted to wear earrings, but wasn't quite so sure about the piercing part.  She's pretty tough when it comes to pain.  But only when its sudden pain.  Anticipation is the hardest.  But in the end, she decided she still wanted to do it.  Originally she had picked out different earrings and at the last minute changed her mind and wanted the same as Brooke.  Another proud moment as Brooke honestly didn't care that they had the same.  I just KNEW Brooke would say "Hey!  She can't get the same as me!!!"  But she didn't and I think was actually flattered a bit.  So Brenna picked the same kind.  And was already tearing up lower lip quivering before they even started!  I'm telling ya - the anticipation is much worse than the actual pain.  Here's her sequence in pics....(sorry for the blurriness)....

Marking where the earrings will be...so far so good...

I love this look.  What are doing with that hand lady?

A little scared right before the punch, but has no clue what to expect really...

Yep.  That hurt.

Man. The lady was quick though.  She did the other one before Brenna had time to let out a full cry.  I guess she's had some kids stop on her and leave with only one earring - haha!

It's over.  Wasn't *that* bad I guess....

And two minutes later, she's fine.  :)

2 girls with holy heads now.  Or holy ears anyway.  Since getting it done (last week) they've both been fine.  Not sore at all, easy going about cleaning and turning them like they should.  Hopefully they will be all well and good this time around.  :)
