Birthday party for a cause...

Brooke went to a birthday party for one of her school friends last weekend that started at a local gym, then followed up with a visit/tour to a local rescue shelter for 'unadoptable' animals - dogs, cats, rabbits, and horses with terminal illness or injuries or breeds that are deemed 'unadoptable (ie - pit bulls).  The birthday girl got surprised with adopting her very own dog at the end of the party.  She was beyond thrilled.  I took a few pics with my phone of some of the tour...

And this sweet dog (below) was actually featured on our local news a while back.  Someone had literally set this dog ON FIRE!!!  Yes.  The dog was set.  on.  fire.  And left in a parking lot.  Some nice passerby stopped, put the fire out and took the dog to the vet.  The vet's office fixed the dog up and this shelter took care of the dog from there foreward.  The dog today is totally fine, except she must wear a 'shirt' at all times because of her scars/burn marks.  :(  She is a bouncing bundle of joy that was so great with the kids, excited to play.  Seriously, she was so fast and excited with all the kids around, I could barely get her in a picture..as she didn't stand still for longer than a tenth of a second!  Haha!   :)

Anyway, it was a fun and unique birthday party!  The kids all had fun hanging out with each other and what kid doesn't love seeing animals?!?!  Plus, the sweet birthday girl had asked people to forego toys and presents for her...and asked people to bring only donated items for the pets at the shelter.  Awww!!!
