RIP Constable Bachmann
I'm sure most of the nation heard by now...and definitely those in our community. But last week, we lost a true hero. There was a shooting in our community. Over an eviction notice. It's quite ridiculous actually. When isn't a shooting ridiculous???, but over an eviction notice? Three people lost their lives.. the shooter, an innocent bystander, and the constable that went to serve the papers. It really brought home how much we take for granted. That could've been me. Not to sound selfish, but that's the first thought that came to my head. Several years ago, that could've been me. How many countless homes did I walk up to..of convicted felons...with nothing more on my mind than what I was having for dinner that night. Or Brad. He still works in the line of duty. He goes to work daily with never more a thought that something like this COULD happen. It just did. It shook our community and our lives for sure. In addition, several more people were injured, some severely. It was quite tragic. The civilian that lost his life was truly an innocent bystander and did not deserve such a tragic ending to his life. The constable that lost his life was truly a hero. He was a great man. Loved by many. He had worked with Brad at the Sheriff's Office many years ago, as he had been with the County for the last 18 years. He loved this community and was genuinely a great guy. His funeral service was this past weekend and it paid a great tribute to a man well deserving. I am saddened for his loss, not only for our community, but also for his family. He leaves behind a wife and young children. And many many heartbroken civil leaders. Many prayers are with his family at this time....
