Ugh.
Ugh... because it was miserable. Against my better judgment, I scheduled them for the class an hour earlier. What a difference an hour makes! It was miserably hot (please note in a previous post ;).
Also, ugh. Because they changed teachers around and we did not get any of the same teachers that we have come to know and love. Brenna's was a little bit drill sergeant ish. Granted she was in Level 2 now and its way more advanced and most of the kids in there are typically 8 and up. But still. It should be fun, right? Well, it wasn't too much for her I don't think. She still learned some, grew as a swimmer and all that. But, eh. Hindsight, wish we would've not done it. The teacher actually made them take 'tests' (swimming, not hand written albeit). And told them at the end of each day to come back tomorrow 'ready to work!'. Whatever.
Anyway, here's some pics from Brenna's class...
And videos...(the guy teacher was actually way more friendlier that her main teacher - the one at the end of the slide, but he wasn't there all too much)...
Also, Brooke was supposed to be in Level 6 (the highest level available). I figured they wouldn't have many Level 6 kids, if any at all. I've seen how it goes. But. Because the didn't have enough at all...they combined Level 3-6 together. What did that mean for Brooke? She's working with the Level 3 kids, not learning anything new or working on anything she could improve on. Blech. She, on the other hand, enjoyed her class. She got to show off, always be the example, and felt very much like the leader of the group. She also really liked HER teacher (she had one of the ones that Brenna had before and loved..Ms Alex. She was one of the few that stayed in this session). So, she enjoyed it. She just didn't learn very many new things. Again, hindsight... if we had known. Wish we would've not wasted the money. Oh well. Here's some pics...
Here she is perfecting her breast stroke (which was one of the things she got waaaay better on!)....
She still struggles with diving...getting her head in first. So she did get to work on that some too...and Ms Alex is great and actually got out of the water to help her. :)
And some video...
Here she is starting at one end of the pool doing the breast stroke, she stops, listens for instructions as to what to do next from her teahcer...then at mid way she was told to switch to back stroke. Then from there, the butterfly (when she is underwater) and then she finishes off with the freestyle. Whew!
Anyway, I am so so sooooo proud to have two very independent swimmers! It is sooo nice. And for the most part we have really lucked out and had a great experience with the swim lessons through the City. So sad to see summer coming to a close. Brenna's green hair will soon turn blonde again I suppose... haha!
