And so this is summer...

I don't know what the calendar says, but I'm telling you. Summer is here. With a vengeance too! Geesh. I'm not a hot-weather person. I don't like going out and sweating before I'm to my car door. I totally hate being sticky all the time and wanting to just lay around underneath a fan all day. I dislike having to park in the shade everywhere I go so I don't burn my skin when I get back into my car after a 5 minute trip to the grocery store. Summer is here. Temps are climbing daily it seems. So much for rain. It was nice while it lasted that whole 3 hr period in the last 100 days or so. I think we've already reached 100 degrees on several occasions and its showing no signs of letting up soon.

So, to stay cool? When we are not laying under the above-mentioned fan, we can be found at the pool. In fact, so much so, that before we hit June, I have one kid with green hair. Unmistakably green hair. From the chlorine. (blech) When we are at home, I try to let the kids play outside some before it gets *too* hot. You know, when its only in the 90's. So, before 11am is good. I fill up the kiddie pools, slather on the sunscreen, hook up the sprinklers and let them have at it. The other day we invited all the school friends over for a fun playmate. Slip n Slide, picnics, watermelon, and popsicles. A success! And all the while, the adults were camped out under the shade with fans. :) But it was nice. And the kids had a blast!
