Lions and Tigers and Bears....oh my!

Yesterday we took a trip with some friends to the zoo. Its a fun thing to do while on Spring Break - short drive, relatively inexpensive and a good way to keep busy. We typically love this zoo because its pretty cheap, close by and small(er), which makes it more manageable with little kids who still need naps. Plus the exhibits are nice b/c the animals seem so close! But this year, we were a little disappointed. Same zoo, less animals. It seemed like they were missing a lot of animals and the ones that they did have - there were only one, maybe two in the cage/area. Bummer.

Oh, well. The kids didn't care. They had a blast. We had to still take a stroller (man, will we ever be rid of that thing?!) since Brenna is still limping pretty hard. It makes her slow-moving for sure. She is walking...but has a hard limp still. :( And she actually asked to ride in the stroller a lot, which means you know it was easier on her! She did get out at a few exhibits long enough to get a closer look at the animals. And she got on the playgrounds and had fun. But walking to and from for her meant riding to and from. ;)

I didn't get a lot of pictures of animals - come on, face it. All your zoo pictures look the same. Instead I just took pictures mainly of the kids having fun.

The alligator was probably the creepiest exhibit by far. He was RIGHT THERE! And not moving. Just his little beady eyes looking around and blinking occasionally. In fact, this was as close as Brooke would sit for a picture. I tried to get her to sit right in front of him (you could see his teeth!) but she wasn't having any of that. LOL

This slide was sooo slow. Brenna had time to stop and look around. The kids literally had to push themselves to get down!

Brenna was pretty good at swinging on these ropes! I was impressed! Bum leg and all. Brooke...eh, not so much. But Brenna - she's a little monkey in the making! :)

As we were leaving, Brenna kept singing over and over and over and over...again "lions and tigers and bears. ..... (pause)... oh my!" I have no idea where she learned that from. But it was pretty cute - the first 10 times anyway. ;)

So glad y'all had so much fun! I'm really bummed that we missed out because of a grumpy 11 year old!
