Thanksgiving

I know we all have much to be thankful for. Mostly I am, of course, thankful for the roof over our heads, the food on our table, and our family. We spent the day, first learning of Mike's death early that morning. So it was hard to be happy and thankful and be sad all at the same time. But, we travelled to my dad's for the day and celebrated for a bit with his siblings. Complete with a turkey/ham dinner and all the fixin's. It was nice to see family I hadn't seen in a while!
Here's some pictures from our day...

Uncle Bill carving the bird...
The "kids" watching the Thanksgiving Day parade on the couch before lunch...
Brenna happy to have some yummy food...
Who knew that my kids would love fruit cake so much? Another favorite from PaPoo!
Brenna thought the dog that jumped all over her was hilarious...
Here's a picture of all the remaining siblings (and one spouse). There were originally 8 brothers and sisters...now down to 5. From L-R: Johnnie and Monica, Ray (better known to us as Dad or PaPoo), John (sitting in the middle), Bill (standing), and Stella (sitting right).
And on the way home, it didn't take the girls long to conk out! All the turkey and pie! :)

I'll also share some pictures from the girl's school day the last day before Thanksgiving. It's really pretty neat this year because there are several different cultures of children that attend school with Brooke and Brenna. So this past month, the teacher had the mom of each of the children from different countries come and do a little presentation on whatever country they were from. Every other day, the kids got to enjoy a presentation from a different country. So, the day before the Thanksgiving Day holiday, they had a cultural food sharing party. Each of those moms brought food typically cooked in their home country. We had representative food from Germany, Lebanon, India, Caribbean, and Canada! It was really neat. Here's some pictures from that day...

The food spread...
The kids listening to Ms Lydia talk about each country and what the different food is...
Brooke and Brenna going through the buffet line... :)

And all the kids eating it up!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! :)

That picture of all the remaining sibblings, although not meant to be funny, did make me laugh. All the remaining sibblings seem in deep thought while being photographed!
The sleeping child warmed my heart: for one because she's so cute, but for two...well, she's sleeping!
