Festival Hopping

So, yesterday was my scheduled day for my lithrotripsy. I had to fast ahead of time, get there at 10a, preregister (which in their language really means to prepay the $900 I owe, after insurance!), get garbed up, get blood drawn (which wasn't an easy task), get an IV inserted (again another digging adventure that wasn't so fun), take an Xray (to be sure of where the kidney stones where just before the procedure), and all that fun stuff. Then, the anesthesiologist shows up. It actually ended being my favorite one around here. Wierd, you say, that I have a favorite anesthesiologist? Well, I do. Mainly because I had one Csection go terribly wrong, and the second after using this guy, who my husband is dearly fond of, I had the best experience ever. So yes, I/we do have a favorite. Anyway, so he shows up (yay!!), and then finally the doctor. The doctor looks and examines the xray, there was talk of giving me some meds, and right before I was wheeled into the room....it was called off. ARG! Apparently I had too much in my stomach and colon to be able to precisely see where the stones where and the doctor didn't feel comfortable just making a guess. *sigh*
I mean, I'm glad he didn't...it shows he is a good, caring doctor and all...but it still majorly sucks big time. Adding to the sucky factor is that now next time when I reschedule it (which I'll do relatively soon!), the day before I'll have to not only fast, but do a full cleansing. Oh joy. Fun stuff.

*sigh*

So, I had a pretty crummy day yesterday after all this...

Now, we have to reschedule the procedure, time it again and hope the same anesthesiologist will be there. Brad has to take off work again (to drive me to and from). My mom will have to be here to help with the kids (pick them up from school, etc..). And not to mention the cleansing and fasting I'll have to endure beforehand, which therefore puts me out of commission not only the day of the procedure and a couple days after, but also the day before! Its just all around a major inconvenience. Grrr!

Anyway, so after all this, since my mom was in town, we decided to take in a movie in hopes to pick up my spirits. We went and saw Life As We Know It , which had some pretty funny parts...but it was much more of a serious movie than I thought it would be. Definitely a good movie, but not an all out comedy. Then we rushed home and got the girls and took them to the end of the first of the Fall Festivals we plan to be hitting around town the next week or so. This one was at a nursing home just around the corner from us. We loved going there last year. There was lots of treats, plenty of games and pony rides and train rides and more. Plus it was nice to see the residents enjoy the company of the little kids. All around a win-win.

This year, since we got there on the tail end of it (we didn't realize it was yesterday!), we missed out on a lot. But we did get the pony riding in...and boy did Brenna LOVE that! Could not get her off the pony! First the girls both rode the train.
Then Brenna rode the pony for the next 30 minutes I swear! We got there at 6:45 (it was over at 7p), and she rode that pony till nearly 7:30! Even riding it over to its trailer to go home. It was really cute! And leave it me to forget my camera (in the heated rush) and only have pics on my cell phone.

Brooke got on long enough for a picture. LOL
Then, this morning, we went for breakfast at iHop, where Brooke proceeded to order the all-you-can-eat pancakes...and ate her weight in pancakes! I think they were about to kick her out. :P After, we went downtown to the Fall Festival the Children's Museum was holding. We didn't buy the wristbands for the rides and such (mainly just bounce houses and silly stuff) because there's always lots of free stuff to do!

The girls loved the animal shelter dogs of course. (funny this dog in the picture was named Barkley :)
They got balloon animals/flowers made...
They saw the State Farm Good Neighbear...
And enjoyed the reptile exhibit, complete with lizards, dragons, turtles, and snakes. Ewww!

We saw this giant turtle just walking around...
The girls each got to pet it on the go (the turtle was pretty fast!), and then we noticed that the turtle apparently wanted to meet the Good Neighbear too! LOL
Then the girls both got their faces painted, which was a first! Can you believe it? Neither one has ever wanted their faces painted before, but today was the day.

And afterwards we headed home. We usually get a hot dog or hamburger there with cotton candy or some sort of treat...but since we had a big breakfast, we just kinda skipped lunch.
Anyway, I'm getting totally excited for next weekend and have started my list for all the festivals and church trunk or treats, etc that we will be going to around town! :))
