The Carving of a Pumpkin

This is how we do it (anyone else singing the song right now??)...

Starting with the freshly purchased pumpkin, with at least one nice clean round side (don't ask to see the back..blech.). This particular pumpkin was $6.99 at our local pumpkin patch.
Then we gut the pumpkin. This year Brooke actually helped!
Brenna checked it out, but she wasn't quite as keen about putting her arm into the 'brains' of the pumpkin yet.
Then we pick out our free pattern off the internet, tape it to the pumpkin, and punch the holes to 'trace' it. Again, Brooke actually really enjoyed doing this part!
Brenna tried... LOL
Then we hand it over to Daddy with the battery powered 'saw'...
I cleaned it up, shaved off more of the innards, trimmed the edges (my OCD kicking in here to try to make it perfect) and voila! A jack-o-lantern.
Brooke named him Pablo. I have no idea why. And poor Pablo has since started to sink into the pumpkin. His legs just weren't strong enough. :( We did this about a week or so ago and we will probably be sending Pablo off to the jack-o-lantern heavens very soon. He was pretty cute while he lasted though!
