Dog Days of Summer

It is hot. Too freaking hot. I think today the high might get to 104, heat index higher than that. Its miserable hot. Walk-oustide-and-you-sweat hot. Car-is-burning-when-you-get-in-it hot. You look outside and it just looks hot. My grass is turning crunchy. I'm not sure where the people are that keep talking about "all the rain" they keep getting. But we've gotten hardly any to speak of. A couple of afternoons last week, we had an afternoon storm blow through in like 15 minutes...and that was it. Grass is not happy with that tease.

While I'm not ready for endless days at the pool and flip flop season to be over, I am ready for it to cool off just a little??? By 9am, its too hot to go outside. And it stays "too hot to go outside" till probably 9pm. The other day I was fortunate enough to go out to eat lunch at a local Mexican restaurant (eat your heart out, oh friend that now lives in Montana!). I decided to take home some flan (THE BEST FLAN EVER is sold here) to share with my grandmother-in-law since she sat with the kids. It was pretty much ruined before we left the parking lot it was so freaking hot outside. I mean, ruined...smushy, dissolved. ((Insert sad pathetic face here))

Anyways, I know I have another month or two of these miserable temps. So far, it hasn't bothered me much. I really think SO FAR, we've been having a milder summer with regard to temps. But unfortunately, now - the last week or so, its cranking up. Let's end it with a bang I suppose? Ugh.

I'll stop griping now and share some sheer summertime pictures! Watermelon!!! A nice treat in the heat! :)

These two pictures are sooooo typical of my two girls. Brenna (above) chomps down taking no prisoners in her quest for the most watermelon in her mouth at all times, caring not what drips down on her shirt (we had to completely change clothes when she was done eating!). While, Brooke (below) eats hers daintily and evenly across, careful not to let any touch her clothes or hands (all the while posing ever so sweetly for pictures of course).

Enjoy the rest of your summertime!

Okay, that was just cruel ;-) I wish it was warmer here (we have to fill a baby pool in the morning and leave it out in the sun all day and they still complain it's cold in the afternoon), but I also wish we had a/c. 90 degrees inside is a bit much.

Maybe we should mail her some Mexican food? Not sure what it would taste like by the time it got there.

Brandy, we're the ones getting the rain. Not sure why, but we've gotten plenty over here on the west side of town. Right when I thought the crunchiness was going to be fatal, it's rained just enough the last week (mostly at night) to bring it back to life.

Sorry you're not getting any on your side of town!

@ Kimberly - LOL, I was wondering how long it would take you to respond. :) And yea, I thought about shipping off some good chips and salsa and queso...but..... think of how good it will taste when you do come back in September if you just wait it out. :)

@ Carolyn - we got a couple showers, but it barely even got the ground wet. Ugh. The grass is beyond crunchy in my neck of the woods. Blech.
