Our week in pictures

Of course I've been taking pictures - I just haven't been posting them! Well, here goes......Where we last left off, I believe I was getting ready for our garage sale. Well, we had our annual garage sale last weekend (yes, it's become an annual thing now) and made about $800. Pretty good, eh? We do put in a lot of work and cleaning and advertisement...we time it well, etc. So by the end of the day, we were plum exhausted. Regardless of our exhaustion though, we packed the girls up with a picnic dinner and went to Wolf Pen Creek to check out a free outdoor concert with Aeromyth, an Aerosmith tribute band. They were really really good! A little loud (or maybe I'm just getting old) but the guy looked and sounded just like Steven Tyler. Brenna stealing my sandwich...And my water...The girls trying to catch the balls bouncing around. They were also trying to catch Tshirts. And while they didn't catch any on their own (man, it's violent out there when they start tossing Tshirts!) a kind lady that caught two of her own passed them on to our girls as they were youth size shirts. And she saw how hard they were trying to get one of their own. Then Sunday we had some friends over for playtime and dinner. It was a little hot, but the breeze was nice so we got to enjoy the outdoors some more before the 100 degree days soon come upon us (as in, it was 97 yesterday I believe).
Brooke is still going about her swimming lessons. While she is there, sometimes, Brenna and I head over to the park next door to kill some time. Here she is praying... ( ;P )...And learning her newest sign, "flower" and learning how to smell - not eat - flowers... Speaking of Brenna, she is getting closer to walking, maybe. I don't know... She sometimes stands by herself but doesn't realize it. She still drops down to crawl if she has to let go to get where she wants to go. But she's getting a little more gutsy, letting go with one hand, sometimes both (again without realizing it) and also learning to do stairs - oh joy. Stairs on the back porch, stairs on the deck, on the playhouse, at Sammy's house. Yep, the girl loves her stairs. She also likes sitting in little chairs now or stools or whatever is at her level. She is signing LIKE CRAZY now. Her newest sign is 'flower', but today I taught her 'squirrel' too. She will do eat, more, milk, drink, all done, play, book (another favorite), elephant, bird, duck, dog, cat, lion, phone, mouse, Brooke, cracker (and I might add she does cracker really well..and that's a hard one for little ones!) and many many more I'm sure. She is even starting to put together two words. For instance, in the car, she will sign she wants the 'dog' 'book'. Pretty impressive huh? huh? Here she is signing "book" while reading a book (coincidentally a Baby Sign Language book...haha!)...Anyways, she is also starting to sound out some more words. I think we might have to call it at her first word being 'Bailey' (well, besides the mamamama or dadadada stuff). Its so cute. She says "Beeeeeee!" We know what she means. She also loves to pick up a phone (toy or real) and say "OH?" (as in Hello?) There are some others that she likes to try to repeat as well. Maybe I'll try to get some video soon. She loves loves loves playing in Brooke's kitchen too. I guess now it will be labelled Brooke and Brenna's kitchen. She has kinda taken over now. Though Brooke still likes it as much, Brenna is joining the cooking world too. (and be sure to take notice...here is an instance where she is actually standing by herself - she just doesn't realize it)... Brooke is loving Summer School. They have Water Day once a week (sprinklers and such) and lots of other fun topic days. Most recently they had pajama day...
She is also doing a trial run of the dance program at school. Since it's short-lived it's not very expensive so I figure she can try it out and see how she likes it before (or if) we fork over any more money towards that. She's only had one day of it so far (it's once/week) but had a good time the first class apparently!

As far as the rest of the family - I feel like we are kinda still in re-coop mode from after the super cleaning frenzy and getting ready for the garage sale. Now, I'm trying to talk Brad into using the money for something fun like a vacation instead of something boring and smart like savings. ;) Maybe if I agree to go see the new Star Trek movie with him. Hmm... We'll see...

In the meantime, we've been relaxing at the house. Brooke and Brenna play really well together now. Brenna signs "Brooke" first thing in the morning wanting to see her. They play the crawling game (where they crawl towards each other and tackle ea other) and they both love it when I allow "pillow mountain" in the living room.
Brooke sometimes gets bored though. So far everyday this week after her nap, she goes to potty by herself afterwards. I let her be - she wants to do it all alone...well, with Barkley's help anyway (she always calls the dog in there with her...wierd). The first day, though, she put lotion all over Barkley (boy did he smell good though!). The second day, she put her own sunscreen on before swim lessons (trust me...not a good scenario). And most recently yesterday, she painted her own toenails, complete with stickers for the big toe. I promise I don't leave this stuff out - but she has some serious initiative to find this stuff and be able to get to it. Luckily, she did an ok job, but I did tell her not to try that again. I also have to take the time to share a funny Brooke story. Yesterday evening after dinner, Brad was working late. I had been saving my trip to the grocery store for when he got home so I could go kid-less. But he didn't get home till late. So after dinner, I packed up both kids and went to HEB. Afterwards, I got them all back in the car and started home. I sighed and said, "Well, THAT was a chore." Brooke asked, "what was a chore?" And I replied, "going to the grocery store...(pause).....with TWO kids!". She said, "yea, you had your hands full I know, b/c I had to handle Brenna!" LOL

The other night I got some popsicles and let the girls share one. It was Brenna's first popsicle. Is it any surprise that she loved it? Well, I'm on picture overload. So that's it for now. I hope ya'll have had your fill. I had a ton of pictures on my camera. Maybe next I'll try for some cute video of something exciting.
