Brad brought home a few MRE's leftover from the hurricane cleanup stuff the other day. He totally pumped Brooke up for a "picnic" with an MRE for the last few days. She thought it would be the coolest thing ever and has been BEGGING to eat an MRE (meals-ready-to-eat) ever since. So tonight they had their living room floor picnic with the MRE.

And then the package was opened.

And then the package was opened.
It's actually pretty cool in that the bag to 'cook' the chili macaroni stuff actually boiled the water and did cook it. Pretty cool. I tried to capture the bubbles. All you do is add water (any temperature) and it does this (I'm not sure if you can quite make out the bubbling of the water inside the bag):
Anyway, Brooke wasn't as impressed after it was opened. Let's see, out of it, she ate a piece of bread, a poptart, a couple of pineapple cubes, and then eventually the Skittles (after she ate her real dinner of chicken nuggets later). For those interested, it also contained the chili macaroni stuff, a tang drink mix, an apple cider mix, and all the condiments you might need - salt, pepper, napkin, moist napkin, and a spoon. The only thing you would've had to supply is the water - both for cooking the macaroni and to make the tang and cider.
And on another note, Brenna got a new food tonight. Peas! And she LOOOOOOVES them. Definitely must've been a bad choice with the carrots, because we could not keep the peas away. She never got this excited over the carrots that's for sure. :) She was reaching and grabbing for the spoon trying to guide it into her mouth. She ate the whole jar, plus a bowl of cereal. This kid can eat!
