Brenna Meets the Teacher

Brenna starts her school on Thursday of this week. So, last night, we had a Meet the Teacher/Ice Cream Social at her school that we went to. Of course, its at the same school (building) she was at last year. But its a different 'school' with different teachers and all. While we are lucky that someone opened up another Montessori school in the same building (so its close by for us still!), we are nervous to see what this year will bring. It will not be the same as Ms Lydia that's for sure. I am going in expecting and knowing that. But I am hopeful that this is the best alternative for what we have in our area and am really excited that they have a language program in place too! (they will teach Spanish and French!) Brenna will be going to school every morning (half days) except Thursdays (when she has Kindermusik). My biggest concern is that they will 'get' Brenna. She is so sweet and kind but also has a mind of her own sometimes. Ms Lydia knew how to bring out the best in her and I only worry that these teachers might not realize or appreciate her sweet and kind nature. I also worry that some of the crazier kids might run her over and cause her to shut down. Ms Lydia really kept her kids in check and they were always such good nice kids. But there are some bigger kids in school now and they do no always have great...um...manners. (we saw some evidence of that last night) Hopefully these teachers will keep them in check as well. Time will tell I assume. :)

Otherwise, we are very excited to see what the year will bring for Brenna! There will be 3 other girls returning that were at school with Brenna last year, so there's some more familiarity there. (and actually one boy will be returning, but he will be on the elementary side, so not sure if him and Brenna will cross paths too much) And we are also happy that Ms Lydia will still be coming in to teach reading 2 days a week :)

Here are her main teachers - Ms Annie (dark hair) will be there M-F and Ms Merrit will be there Tues, Wed, Thurs. On the days Ms Merrit is not there, they will have the Spanish teacher there, so every day there will be at least two teachers there.

Same school, different things!

And, not to forget... the ice cream part of this event! :)
