Subbing

I have been substitute teaching....a lot lately.  I only sub at the girls school and mostly only when 'planned'.  I have unsubscribed from the call list through the school district and literally only am ever at the girls school.  What I didn't know is how much they would use me!  Which is great...but time investment too.  Last week I subbed every day in the week.  Of course, that was a unique time and was because one teacher got real sick.  Mostly I do 1-2 days a week.  And its pretty good pay!  Subs got a raise last year so I came in just in time.

I do have to share one thing.  Once I've subbed for Brooke's teacher.  You never know what you'll get with different teachers.  Some are organized some are not.  But I've had mostly good experiences and usually try to check with the teachers the day before to get plans and questions answered.  Brooke's teacher wasn't ready when I came by, but assured me she'd have everything laid out in the morning.  I was already nervous about 3rd grade.  They are (with the exception of Brooke) quite awful behavior-wise.  Not sure why... lots of schools of thought on that one.  Could be a hard year of transitions (they now switch classes in 3rd), could be they are coming from the portable buildings (in 2nd) and are now back in the open concept school rooms.  Could be that they are just a crazy group.  Either way....it can be rough.  So I was a little nervous.

But lo and behold, her teacher was maybe the most awesome I've subbed for yet (sorry, no offense the others!).  She left everything out, with stickies, in order to do what, several lists and just really helped my OCD - haha!

So great even...she even left me an apple for my day.  I love her!  :)
