Lucky she was the lead off batter, because that was the only at bat she would get before the rains started. At first they were saying as long as no lightening, we would play in the rain. (a lot of money was rec'd for this tourney) But the lightening started quickly after.
It POURED! I mean, DOWNpour (I told you the storms we've been getting have been cuh-razy!). So when they noticed 2nd base was floating away, the decision was made to call the pool games (in the morning), come back after lunch in hopes to still play the bracket games. The forecast showed it might clear up. So we piddled around the big metropolis, had lunch, came back...the weather was great. Until we got started warming up. The hosting fields had even spent upwards of $1000 to get a company to come out and dry the fields. And just as the games were about to start, yep. You guessed it. Rain. Rain, rain, and more rain. SO they cancelled. Everyone was sad and we went home. Bummer.
In the meantime, since the tournaments are getting fewer and farther between, our local league has been hosting some scrimmages. Just for opportunities to get the girls to play! So, here's some shots and videos of things going on there...

Then, within her league team (the Cougars)...separate from tournament ball, she has made a few good plays. She LOVES to play pitcher. Her favorite. She eventually wants to BE a (real) pitcher and has already been practicing her skills. :)
And here's a great hit off the dreaded pitching machine (which honestly, doesn't happen very often unfortunately...we hate the pitching machine)....

The one most awesome day she had, I did not get on video. Darnit! She was playing pitcher, a scrimmage type game. One player on 1st, ball is hit...ball is hit lofty but low. However, before it hits the ground, she makes an AWESOME unbelievable catch, stretching to get it....gets the batter out. The runner (who was on 1st) had taken off as it didn't look like a catch-able ball. So Brooke threw it to first, got her out as well. Double play!!!! Then, very next batter, hit a grounder to her, she threw her out at first. So Brooke was responsible for all three outs that inning. So awesome! :)
Meanwhile, Brenna is also enjoying her team and getting better all the time. Of course, for now, she only plays league play, but here's some shots of her as well....

Softball season is coming to a close and both girls are sad. Brooke's tournament team will keep up the practices and might randomly hit a tournament here or there until the Spring season really kicks up.
