Summer Reading

Our first few days of summer have been spent getting things in some semblance of a plan.  Or I'm trying anyway.  Its hard to plan too much b/c of costs and time associated with it.  Brooke is still practicing softball and will be playing on a tournament team this summer possibly.  Things are still up in the air with that so we are kind of in limbo for a bit.  The girls did start swimming lessons, though.  And Brooke is enrolled in a fairly inexpensive softball camp the local high school does.  Brenna wants to do Little Belle camp again and gymnastics, but we're not quite sure the funds are there for either of those activities yet.  What is totally free though - is READING!  We spent one morning, going around town to sign up for all the summer reading programs that are offered free of charge.  The local library has a reading club we are now signed up for.  And we started checking out books again (which isn't necessary during school year b/c we have access to the school library).  Brooke is planning ahead and starting to tackle reading the 2013-2014 Bluebonnet Award books.  If she reads all 20 of them before the end of next year, she will get a bluebonnet book award through school, along with a gift card to a local bookstore!  3rd grade is the first year they can participate in this so she's on it.  She is already working on that and has read her first bluebonnet book.  :)
