Houston, we have a Millionaire....again!

You may remember, last year, Brooke made a phenomenal accomplishment for a 1st grader.  She was the first 1st grader (EVER!) to read a million words.  You can read about that here.


This year.  Of course, she would be a millionaire.  But who knew it would happen BEFORE CHRISTMAS BREAK?!?!

But yes.  Yes she did.

So last week, she was recognized on morning announcements, given her millionaire shirt and bill, etc.

Oh...and yea.  THe only ones to have gotten it thus far this year?  Besides Brooke?  3 5th graders...  !


Last year, she took her shirt off as soon as announcements were over and never wore it again.  My mother in law said, 'yep.  that's why she wins character award!'  Probably true.  This year, she did the same thing, not wanting the recognition or to be the only 2nd grader, etc...  However, when I picked her up from school she WAS wearing her shirt again.  I was shocked, but proud.  Her teacher responded to my questioned look with a, "yep.  I made her wear it.  And now, she's wearing it with pride!"
Good for her.  :)

Anyway, so proud of my super reader.  Just amazing!  I'll let you know when she hits 2 mil.
