Christmas for the B's

Christmas morning was glorious! Albeit, a little earlier wake up than what I would've preferred, but so be it.  They are kids after all.

But, yes.  They were awake before 6am!  As in, I think Brooke twiddled to my bed at 5:40am...."He came!  He came!  Santa came!!!"

Note from Chris....

We managed to stall till 6:30 or so, crawling out of bed by then and first having bday cake for Jesus, our annual tradition.  We sing Happy Birthday, each blow out a candle and have cake for breakfast.  :)

Then the girls dove into their stockings.  Its funny to watch them progress through their opening.  Last year, they took out things one by one.  This year, they dumped everything out and dug through everything.  LOL

From there, they wanted to delve into Santa presents.

They were pretty pleased with their loot.  But Santa didn't get them that 'one big thing'.  A bunch of littler things.  So from there, we opened family presents.  Brooke was sooooooo excited to give Brenna hers and vice versa.  Brooke handed out all the gifts.  Some of my favorites shots from the morning...

Then we got to their "big" gifts, from us.  We made them open together.  We played it up kinda big.  They knew it was going to be good...

Then they got to it.  And it was purses???  That's it?  They were very thankful and got lots of 'oh I love it...' but you could tell.  She was trying to be gracious and very appreciative and all that.  But, Brooke was like, really?  All this buildup for a purse?

Then they looked inside the purses to find their other gift....

Yep.  iPod touches.  They both got one.

And my biggest and most fondest memory from the entire season was how genuinely excited Brooke was...not for herself...but for Brenna!  For Brenna to have her own iPod.  She was sooo happy for her.

So, we have not seen them since Christmas.  Haha!  Just kidding.

After having lots of time to play (by now, it was only 8:30-9am!), my dad was the first to arrive to start cooking our Christmas dinner.  Of course, first he brought Bailey home to us.  Unbeknownst to us, with the strong winds that happened here on Christmas morning, our fence was knocked down in our backyard.  One side - about a 40 ft section - completely gone.  Posts snapped in half.  And Bailey was across the street!  :O  Yikes.  More on that later...we didn't dwell and still enjoyed our day.  So later Sammy, Muna, and Grandpa Scott came over too.  We had loads of food, turkey, ham, dressing, all the fixin's (sorry no pics...I was hungry!  haha...jk) and then got to gift exchanging...

The girls were beyond spoiled yet still and had lots of fun opening and giving out presents.  We were spoiled as well.  So gracious for all that we received and for all who came to spend Christmas with us.  So lucky to have each and every one of you in our lives.

We are so blessed to be able to have the kinda Christmas we had.  We were able to spoil our kids and that's ok.  I am just thankful that this past year has been good to us.  And thankful for the real reason of the season - Jesus being born and coming to save us from our sins.  I hope everyone had as great a Christmas as we had.  We are looking forward to a wonderful 2013!
