And then there was basketball....

Fall is definitely in full force over here.  Busy, busy, busy!  I don't think we have been home longer than an hour at any given time, unless we are sleeping.  Every week day one kid has something.  Brooke - either piano or softball game and Brenna - either Kindermusik or dance.  Tack on to that weekly bible study, church, PTO meetings or other random things, plus me working all. the. time.  And then photoshoots more than regularly for me too!  Whew!  I'm tired just writing it all out.  And there really is tons more.  Our gas bill has skyrocketed.  Gas, as in, gas for the car!  Besides all the random errands, work schedules, and kid activities, with our house being on the market, it shows quite often and we aren't 'allowed' at home during those times.  Most recently its been on tour so we had to literally stay gone the entire day.  Sigh!  Its gotta slow down soon, right?

No.  Probably not.  Now, Brooke has asked to do basketball.  She's been asking for a while but recently she brought home a flyer with a church organization that provides team sports, one of which is basketball.  We looked through it and decided she could try it out since it does not overlap with softball.  The other night, though, she had evaluations so they could pick teams.  I've never seen her 'play' as she only gets the chance in PE at school, but she did pretty well!  Dribbling is sketchy, but she made over half her shots I'd say!

Meanwhile, softball is about half way over I guess, maybe more.  Its definitely different this time around.  Of course, the coaches are new (to the league) and so there's been some disorganization, but also with 12 players on the team!, there's not a lot of opportunities.  For instance, she maybe gets to bat 2 or 3 times in a game.  Whereas last season, she was batting 5-7 times!

However, she says she still loves it.  She's gotten only a couple of hits (man, I wish she could get a coupe more! she just doesn't get the opportunity!) but she has gotten them.  She has yet to score yet, as her batters behind her didn't bring her home, but she did make a great play fielding the ball and getting someone out at 2nd!  Luckily the do rotate positions...though it took the coaches about 5 games to figure out how ;), so she's getting lots of chances to play different areas.  But also in the 'big leagues' now, I can tell her confidence has dwindled some.  The other kids are so much more experienced and older and ...well...bigger!  Ha!  But she still loves it.
