Drive Thru Safari

I got a couple of unexpected days off this past weekend!  (woo hoo!!!) so we took advantage of the time together as a family and drove over to a new little place just outside of town that just recently opened up.  Its a drive through wildlife ranch. Its very small, compared to Fossil Rim or Natural Bridge, but it has a lot of variety of animals, a petting zoo area with some cool stuff, and the cutest little baby animals in the store/gift shop area that the staff keeps a close eye on.  Again, not near as big as other places, the but the quantity and variety of animals was impressive!

The drive through took only *maybe* an hour and we stretched it out.  But the animals were very friendly, tame and unique!  The girls loved it!  (and so sorry...I forgot ANY camera, so these are alllll cell phone pics!  doh!)

The hits throughout the drive through were the camels, the antelope and deer and rams, and the llamas. The girls also loved the kangaroos!  (and the guy inside the store had one jumping around the store - very cool)

From there, we went and visited the petting zoo, which also had loads of unique animals.  There were the usual goats and calves and things.  But also there was a baby pigs (so cute!), a baby camel, baby llamas and more!  :)

They also had a caged animal part, with a skunk, a HUGE porcupine, some monkeys and other fun animals.  (they had the tiniest little baby monkey inside the store they were letting kids hold - no pics allowed)  And the we let the girls play on some of their playground equipment before we left too!

All in all it was a fun little morning trip that the girls enjoyed I think!  You can tell its in its beginning stages and there's quite a few animals there per acre maybe.  But the people were real friendly and I love that its sooo close by - we can just go there on a whim! :)
