Brenna reading

Brenna's been 'reading' for some time now.  But she kinda got 'stuck' in a rut with her school not being as supportive of her reading.  So, this past year was kind of a waste.  Hindsight.  Yea.  I should've taken her out sooner maybe.  But all is done.  And next year she will be in a loving environment, full of hugs!  :)

In the meantime, lucky for her...her last preschool teacher (that we love dearly!) is still working with her once/week.  She's been trying to move her past feeling like she can't do something b/c she's not old enough or not big enough or not good enough (yea.  self esteem problems suck).  Its a hard habit to break, but we're getting there!  And she is actually VERY smart.  If in the right environment, she probably would've surpassed where Brooke was at this age.

But nonetheless...  here she is reading her 3 'homework' books from Ms Lydia.  :)

She actually does WAY better with workbooks and toys and reading, when its on her own.  But I asked her to read these three b/c this is easier to tell what she's doing.  She's been moving on to much harder WORDS (most recently she's been working with a set of toys/reading that include words like dragonfly, grasshopper, elephant, etc), but when it comes to BOOKS, we are are on the easier ones still to keep her motivated and to make her realize she IS smart.  :)
