Mommy and Me Journal

Another idea I stole from Pinterest here. I'm telling you... that site is full of great ideas! And I wanted to post here, because I think this is a fabulous idea for staying connecting with your kids.

This is a journal, a regular simple composition type book I bought at Target for a couple bucks. I turned it into a Mommy and Me journal of letters. I bought the letter stickers, put them on a sticky label, then stuck the labels you see on top of the notebook. I covered it with contact paper so they stayed put for the duration of its use. I did it just like the one I saw on Pinterest, b/c I really liked their format and wording and such. :) So I also added the bottom pieces (under the contact paper too)....of "life", "laughter", "love", and "letters". I think it turned out nicely and took me less than 20 minutes to put together, once I had the materials in hand.

I also stole the first letter idea from the same one off Pinterest. Because, again, I liked the wording and what she said and all. Here is my first letter to Brooke,..... and you will see her one response "yes" out to the side of my question and the little person she drew at the bottom (after I gave her the notebook)...

I did leave her the book by her bed for her to find when she got home from school. To say she loved the idea would be an understatement. :) I told her later, in confidence, that this idea and notebook was our little secret and the letters would stay between us. So she doesn't know I am sharing it on the internet, but I definitely won't be sharing anymore after this first letter so as to not abuse her confidence. ;)

She immediately wrote me back and put it on my bed. When I found it, there was first, this note laying on top.

And her note on the inside back to me (and she also found and put in the bookmark, which I thought was sweet too!)....

As I said, I have since written her back again, etc etc.... but I won't be sharing any more from our private letters. I just wanted to share the original idea because I think its a great idea for staying connected with your kids! :)
