School working

So, with Ms Lydia retiring and closing her school, we were in quite a bind as to what to do with Brenna next year. We finally decided (back in March/April) to enroll her in a local church mother's day out/preschool kinda program. We were very disappointed that she wouldn't be getting the same quality academic instruction as she would with Ms Lydia again, but this was the nicest place with nice kids, nice teachers, etc. It was calm and quiet and that's what we felt best. It was also about to suck because we would be driving 20 min each day to take her since this school was literally across town. :/

Then, all of the sudden towards the very end of the school year, turns out two teachers from a Montessori based school on the other side of town decided to rent Ms Lydia's building (with an option to buy at the end of this upcoming year) and start their own (new) Montessori based school. Sounded ideal. But. They were going to be charging comparative prices to what the other Montessori school charged, which is waaaaay higher than what we have been used to with Lydia. They were also going to be doing things A LOT different than what we are used to with Lydia. They have Montessori type materials and teach from that perspective, but they are basically bringing everything with them from the other Montessori school they came from (you do what you know I guess) and setting up shop accordingly. Which we weren't too impressed with that other Montessori school when we were looking around. But. We had to weigh options. So we decided to pull Brenna out of the church school and let her start with this new Montessori school. We feel its the best option out there, yet still not so perfect as what we were used to. Also, Ms Lydia will be coming in to this school twice a week to teach reading...so that's also a plus! And...its obviously A LOT closer for us.

So after all these decisions, we are at peace with our decision and we will see what it brings.

In the meantime, Ms Lydia has started to get bored I think (I knew she would!) and has been working with Brenna at our house just for fun. Brenna is picking up right where she left off and is learning to slowly read 3-4 letter words and write the alphabet. She's doing exceptional! And we are so thankful to still have Ms Lydia around to help out with all her materials and expertise! :)
