Ok, so this is my last vacation post. All good things must come to an end, right? :(
So we stayed our one night in New Orleans. Since we got there kinda late and it was raining, we missed out on doing anything 'fun' the night before. We decided to spend a few hours in the morning, before officially heading home, walking around the French Quarter and doing some fun things.
First, after we checked out of our hotel, we headed down the streets and did some window shopping. The girls thought most of this stuff was super cool.
Then we HAD to stop at Cafe Du Monde for some of the world famous beignets.
Delicious!
We walked around a bit more....
Then it was close to 10am, which is when the aquarium opened. So that would be our final event before loading up in the car.
Holy cow! Whoever said it was a 'short walk' to the aquarium... must've driven. It was not a short walk. Especially in the heat and humidity. But we made it and the girls had a lot of fun. Brenna, especially... she kept asking me to take her picture at every stop. :)
And here's a picture of a picture, cuz I was too cheap to buy it... ;P
The girls were too short to pet the sting rays. Bummer. I had heard that that was the best part of the aquarium. And they had to settle for just viewing the sting rays. :(
They still had an ok time. Again, I'm not much of a walk-through-and-see-animals kinda person...zoos, aquariums, etc.. they just aren't my thing. Glad we did it once, but if we ever came back (and that's a big "if"), we would more than likely skip the aquarium.
Brad was kind enough to walk allllll the way back to the car while we looked around the gift shop and took a potty break and came and picked us back up. We loaded up and started out on our drive....home. We kept the girls up a little bit, long enough to make it to Baton Rouge for lunch. Then they napped on the way to Texas.
It was still a substantial drive from New Orleans to get home, so after they woke up, we had time for a movie and some more presents (2 were left actually), but the grand finale of the presents was one of those little stuffed dogs that lay on their bed and actual 'breathe'. You can see their stomach moving up and down and they look so real..its almost kinda creepy! LOL But they loved them, of course. So glad we had those presents for the drive. Again, they really helped out a ton to break up the drive and add some excitement.
Again, the girls were fabulous on the entire drive. They were actually BETTER in the car I would say than while we were out and about. They really didn't mind it at all. Of course, I was very prepared with lots of car activities (and the presents too), but regardless, they were very easy going in the car. So happy I have good little travelers!
We were so fortunate to be able to take such a great trip that we all enjoyed. Thanks to Brad's mom for all her help and my mom for house and dog sitting. We, honestly, were sad to be home (though our dogs were super excited to see us for sure!) and have STILL had a rough time getting back into the swing of 'normal' life. But we all have tons of memories of great fun from this whole trip!
