Garden Update

Despite the drought and windy conditions here, our garden and fruit trees are thriving. Of course, I'm sure they'd love to see real rain and not so much tap water, but whatever works for now.

I get so excited every day when I go out to water and see new or bigger fruit on the trees! Its so fun. I get almost giddy! :)

The peaches are really getting big!

And the oranges too!

I've got the first apples on the tree. More than one too! These, in particular, are the gala apples...

But the other apple tree is blooming too now...

Like I said, the garden itself is doing really well too!

I've seen the first of the tomatoes on the vine.

I know, we really need to get out there and start staking them up. It's on the list. ;) Also, the peppers are starting to bloom too (no up close pictures of that)

I found this plant and wanted to try it...again, just for fun. Its a stevia plant (the one in front. the others behind are other herbs and to the side are onions). We'll see...

And here is Brooke's little garden. She wanted to do grapes and blueberries. I'm afraid the blueberries aren't going to make it. The dogs tore them up as soon as we planted them and they never recuperated. :/ But the grapes seem to be doing well!

Also wanted to share this picture. We apparently have a family of blue jays living in and around our backyard and a family of red birds too! You may remember this picture, so now I had to snag a picture of one of the red birds. :)

Now, that we're past Easter and all the birthdays and get-togethers, I'm really ready for it to rain. I mean, I was ready before...but come on already!! What happened to "April showers bring May flowers"? Unfortunately this year is turning into April droughts brings the brown grass about! Ugh.

It's kinda funny to see a real garden! Only peas and spinach (barely starting) around here. We grew Stevia one year in that cruddy little planter by the front door and it did fine, so it should grow okay for you. Did you know blueberries need acidic soil? The soil there isn't right so you have to add an acidifier to it.
