Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone had a safe and fun-filled Halloween, since it's pretty much over now.

We definitely did. It was a long Halloween filled weekend event for us! Friday, the girls had their Halloween party at school, which meant they got lots of candy, cookies, and other treats while wearing their costumes to school.

Then Friday night we headed out to Boofest at the Bombers baseball park. This is an annual free event, but we had never been before. Let's just say, next year, we'll be skipping this one. It was waaaay crowded for not so fun games and lots of scary people dressed up. Come on people! It's kids event...you're not supposed to scare the ever-living daylights out of them! But needless to say, Brenna spent most of the night in one of our arms, terrified of all the (adult) scary costumes...you know, like the prison inmate whose face was cut off, the guy from Scream, gorillas, people with axes through their head. Yea, I'm serious. Anyway, we made our way through like 3 games, then skidded past all the rest and let the girls play on the ball field, which was the most fun they had all night.

Saturday was lo-key, except if you count the moment when Brad realized he lost his wallet at the ballpark. We looked everywhere for it, high and low, and he finally decided to drive back to the ballpark. I was rolling my eyes the whole time...who is he kidding? The place is closed (its Saturday morning now, 12 hours later), so he's not getting in to look. And if it was outside on the street or parking lot, it was gone by now for sure!

He said he was praying the whole way there that he would find it and that it would just be right there where we parked. And lo and behold, would you believe it was? I am not kidding. Craziness. Unfortunately, it was missing the near $100 cash he had in it, but otherwise was completely intact. Laying right in the middle of the street, right next to where our car had been parked the night prior. His best guess is that when he reached in his pocket for the keys, his wallet came out and dropped to the ground with it and he didn't notice because he was so focused on Brenna and keeping her out of the street (it was a busy street). Anyway, it turned out to be an expensive night...costing us that $100, but much better outcome that *I* was expecting.

So, on to the rest of our fun. We started off Halloween day (before naps) at a local church's festival. However, we didn't get to stay too long since Brenna was terrified of the giant inflatable pumpkin they had by the door. So, we left and went and had free pizza at CiCi's (well, free for the kiddos since they were dressed in costume..and we had a coupon!).

Then, after naps, we headed to Sorority Row where we found some friends and let the girls trick or treat up and down the street. It's always fun and the college girls like to ooohh, and ahhh over the little ones. Brenna did ok. She was a little hesitant about going up to strangers and asking for candy (duh!), but there weren't too many scary things out luckily. And fortunately, Brad and I provided a wall to shield her eyes from the guy dressed as a gorilla at one house. LOL

From there, we went to Central Baptist and had a dinner of free hot dogs, chips, tacos, rice and beans, etc. Topped off with cotton candy of course! The girls played a few games, we rode on a hayride (in a parking lot?), and Brooke got to shoot a paintball gun (which she was surprisingly very good at?!) but once it started to get crowded and busy, we left.

We went on to our favorite spot at Christ's Way Baptist. It's a lot more low-key, but still a ton of activities, and ones that are best for our little kids. We first learned of this place because it's Brad's co-workers church (you'll actually see her in one of the pictures below at a game stop, dressed as a Roller Derby Girl). It's always great because there aren't as many people it seems and its kinda set up better. They also have hayrides, free food (frito pies..yum!) and drinks and popcorn and lots of games for the little ones. They even got to hammer nails into a cross to take home (kinda cool!) and Brooke kept getting free soda by ringing the cans! Haha! The girls had a blast. We also ran into Chad, Cami, and Alli (and family) at both the church festivals (sorry no pictures of all them together) and so they really had fun getting to play games together.

And by then it was 8pm and I was tired (we had started at Sorority Row at 4p!!). But Brooke insisted on doing a little door to door Trick or Treating, so we went to a few houses back in our neighborhood before heading home. And all in all, the girls came home with waaaaay too much candy. See here:
Brad and I went through it, threw out the yucky melted stuff, picked out what we wanted for ourselves (hee hee), and they can have a few pieces here and there that'll last them throughout the rest of the year probably!

Happy Halloween, and hello holiday season! :)

Girls look cute.
Pics are a little big, but you can still see them. Blogger's been doing some weird stuff on my page too, but then I look back later and it's back to normal.
