Drawings

Thought that today I'd share some of Brooke's most recent drawings/notes.

The first needs some explaining. She was going through a small phase at school where she was not eating her lunch. Everyday she came home and the lunch box still had the majority of her lunch in it that I inevitably had to throw away. Finally, after days of ranting about it to no avail, I told her I was just going to stop making her lunch. Since she didn't eat it anyway, no sense in wasting the food. She cried and cried and begged for one more chance. So I told her 'ok', I would give her one more chance, but that if she came home from school again with her lunch not eaten, I would no longer make her a lunch. End of story, right?

Wrong. So she takes the initiative to write herself a note and stick it in her lunchbox, addressed to herself, signed Mommy and Daddy... to remind herself to eat her lunch.

Here's the note (with THE worst spelling I've ever seen from her, but whatever, she was in a hurry..because yes, I was rushing her to get to school on time!)...
It says, "If you do not eat, I will never give you food for school and everybody else will eat their food without you and you will not eat. Love Mommy and Daddy."

Boy we sound harsh don't we? :P But I was proud of her for wanting to do better and doing what she needed to do to ensure she did do better! Of course, I warned her teacher that my threat was not near as harsh as she made it sound and that this note was all her own doing. So as to not warrant any CPS calls. ;) And what do you know... since then (and this was a week or so ago), she has eaten every bit of her lunch every single day. :)

The next drawing is one she did of our backyard. And, if you've ever been to our house, you can see its pretty accurate. Down to the trampoline, the netting around the trampoline, with the ladder underneath (that is really a swimming pool slide, hence the slide that goes underneath). Then she drew the two play houses that stand next to the trampoline - one is brown, one is pink with a purple roof and yellow windows. Pretty good, huh?
Then she wrote out a "Practice Sheet" for Brenna to use to practice her ABC's. Thought that was cute too.
And last, but certainly not least, is our family picture. Drawn left to right is Barkley, Daddy, Brooke, Mommy, Bailey, Brenna, and Bo (the cat) on the bottom, with "Family" written up top as the title. :)

Sure do love this girl!
