Last week, Brooke was gone every day for Little Belle Camp. The high school's drill team puts this on every summer and Brooke was old enough this year to participate! It was really a pretty cool deal. While it was a bit chaotic (dozens of squealing little girls all in one gymnasium), it was still fun for Brooke. They went from8a-1p, had a snack there and lunch, got to do a craft usually each day, and at the end of every day had a showcase performance for the parents of a little dance they learned. Then at the end of the week, the performed in the evening for a much larger group, all wearing their 'uniforms' of the Tshirt that got with their purchase into camp. They were also awarded trophies and ribbons. All that! But mainly, it was good because Brooke had a blast!
Here she is one morning going in. As I said, it was a bit chaotic. Drop off was a little unsettling because there were sooooo many girls and not a lot of individual supervision. It would seem very easy for a kid to wander off and no one notice. But she stayed with her group and came home unharmed each and every day. :)
If it looks early in the picture, that's because it was! Early for us anyway... It started at 8a, which mean I had to get Brooke up by 6:30-6:45 every day, which is EARLY! But she didn't mind since it meant she got to go to Belle camp with her friends.
Here's a still pic of their performance at the end of the week... (Brooke is 4th from the left side as you are looking at it)
And here's a pic of Brooke with her trophy, that she was sooo proud of. She keeps telling me, "Mom! This is my first every trophy!" :)
Here's a picture afterwards with Brooke and her Big Belle for the week....
And she was sweet enough to let Brenna play with her pom-pom for a few minutes...(Brenna, by the way, loved watching the dances!)...
And here's a picture of Brooke with the captain of the Belles. She asked me all week if she could get a picture with her.
And lastly, I forgot to mention, they also got to take a picture in a Bengal Belle costume with the Tiger mascot. This is that picture, scanned in...
And finally, here are the two videos from the two different dances they did the final night. She is right in the front line, 3rd or 4th from the left as you look at it. I wish the quality was better so you could see how she is beaming from ear to ear the whole time.
First one, the ballet one. (the theme this year/for the week was "when I grow up")
And here's the second, their 'jazz' routine...
Looks like she had no fun right? She's already asking if she can go next year! :P
