Catching up

I am, once again, behind in my blog. But, to my credit, I've taken on two little side jobs....one summarizing deposition and another doing some computer work for a realtor/family member. We've also had a busy time as a family with family gatherings, birthday parties and baby showers and more. Life is happening but I am not blogging about it as it happens. So, I'm trying to play 'catch up'.

First comes first, last weekend the local family members had a get-together at the land and a lunch to follow the next day at a BBQ joint. :) It was H....O....T....HOT! And muggy...and mosquito-y (not probably a word, but it should be in Texas ;). But the kids still had fun nonetheless.

I have totally slacked on keeping Brooke reading and writing frequently this summer. Hey, swimming gets in the way of that kinda stuff right? :P But it has helped that she has been pen-paling back and forth with her good friend Sierra who now lives literally across the country. She sure does miss her, but enjoys getting letters from her regularly. So that makes up for it some right? She is reading Sierra's letters and writing letters back to her! She's learning how to address/stamp envelopes and how the mail system works and also learning about different places (as we get postcards from Sierra we talk about where they are from, etc). It's a win-win!

Also, we were fortunate enough to catch my sister on her way to Houston (and back) so she got some quality one-on-one time with the girls. I think they took advantage of her time just a little bit....
