Every year the local Children's Museum sponsors a Daddy/Daughter Dance around Valentine's Day. This was the first year that Brad took Brooke, thinking that by next year Brenna will want to be involved too.
It was so fun (probably for both of us!) to get her dressed and hair fixed really fancy and just all dolled up. She loved getting her hair all curly...
I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to fix her hair, but I just started pinning it up...
I think it turned out SUPER cute!
Getting corsages on - that I made!!! I was pretty proud of myself for making their corsage/boutonniere. They turned out well I think!
Sooo...here's the princess all ready for the Ball! Isn't she beautiful??
And this is what I get when I tell Brad to pose/smile for the camera...
And this is what I get when I threaten him... ;)
The couple...
Then, I drove them and dropped them off at the dance, so they wouldn't have to worry about parking and walking in the cold. Just as I was leaving, a limo was pulling up. And here I thought *we* were going all out. Here is the couple as I was dropping them off...
Then I sent the camera with Brad and he tells the story as such from then on. He said, they had it decorated very nicely with lights and decorations and the theme was A Night in Wonderland (from Alice in Wonderland). They had all 3 floors to the Children's Museum set up. First they went downstairs to where the dance floor and the catered buffet was set up. They had two areas for eating, a kids' setup and an adult setup. Brooke had macaroni and cheese, some sort of chicken sandwich, cheese and fresh fruit. And she got to eat THREE cupcakes. Brad had some steak slices and some black beans and rice.
Then, he tried to get her dance. At first she didn't want to, but she ended up coming around and really letting loose. She looks like she was having fun!She ran into a friend there with her Daddy so they all got to dance (and play) together.
The middle floor was setup with the normal museum stuff and the top floor was set up with craft rooms (where she created a pillowcase as a souvenier) and a photographer taking pictures with a backdrop and such. They did do those pictures, just not sure when we'll get those back.
Both of them had a good time and we thought it was worth the time/money/effort. It's a little on the expensive side, but Brooke just LOVED getting all dressed up, spending time with her Daddy, and having a fun night. And since her dress only cost me $2.49...yes, I'm not kidding. I got a super score on this dress at Kohl's after Christmas sale that didn't have a tag and the only number the girl could find had it ring up as a card at $2.49. Beat that! I did her hair my own (free) and made the corsages myself (about $6 worth in flowers), so we didn't spend much extra. And they both came home beaming from the time they had together. Priceless. :-)
