Tran-Siberian Orchestra

This past Sunday afternoon, we took Brooke and went to see the much anticipated show of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I can't imagine how one has NOT heard of the band, but if not, they are an orchestra that incorporates rock, symphonic metal, and classical music. They mainly do renditions of traditional Christmas songs, but have a few non-seasonal albums as well. Their concerts consist of a full light show synchronized and themed to the music they are playing with dozens of laser lights, spotlights and pyrotechnics as well. In my opinion, it is also done in a form a rock opera? In that, all of their albums tell a story. During a concert, there is a narrator and those stories always have a Christian basis. They are not afraid to say "Merry Christmas" or talk about the Lord, or the Christ, and often wish many blessings to their audience. They whole basis of the first and original album of Christmas Eve and Other Stories is that of an angel coming down to bring evidence of Christmas back to the Lord.

Anyways, all that to say their concerts and music is utterly AWESOME!!!! I highly highly recommend it, but if you do purchase a CD, be sure to follow along the story inside the CD cover so you really 'get it'. I always recommend their concerts as you definitely get your money worth. We had, in my opinion, the best seats in the house and they were $50/ticket. *gasp!* I am a cheapie, but the concert is SUCH a show..its amazing. I don't know how they do it. 3 solid hours of music, lights, fire, fireworks, singing...and the whole time they are running around, dancing, jumping off things, running through the audience all the while still playing their instruments to perfection. Amazing!

We were so excited to take Brooke this year. Brad and I had been once before, but she had no idea what to expect. And it was so fun to watch her reaction the first time the lights started. Can't put it into words. Fun. She was enthralled the entire 3 hours with the lights and music and players and now tells everyone about it.

Unfortunately, cameras weren't allowed and they checked bags, but...., um....., the didn't check my pocket??? :P

So I snapped just a couple of pictures in cognito to try to not get in trouble or get my camera confiscated. No great pictures or anything, but still...at least a couple as reminders of how awesome it was!

Here's Brooke before the show...

And some of my in cognito pics to follow. Shhhh! Don't tell!

I guess in the pictures they look like we are kinda far back. But we are really only in Row 11, following the floor seats. And we both agreed we wouldn't want floor seats - they were much more squished together and not on risers, so you wouldn't be able to see over the people in front of you! Our seats were perfect! And plus, they come out in the audience a lot and so many times were right on the stage directly in front of us!
