Last night was "work night" at Brooke's school. It's a once-a-semester opportunity for parents to come in and observe their children doing their school work. Similar to an open house or meet the teacher, but as is everything Montessori..it is led by the child.
We were fortunate that my mom was in town and could stay with Brenna so both of us could go and see what all she is doing these days. Brooke was a little distracted by all the people there (other parents and siblings and such) and was a little shy to show us her "real hard work", but we still enjoyed seeing what she enjoys at school.
Her favorite game on the computer is "I Spy". She's like a pro and wins every time.
I kept asking her to show us some of her 'hard work' and she insisted she wanted to show me the 'easy work'. Ay yi yi.... So here she is with said 'easy work', matching the objects up with the words on the paper...
And writing numbers with Daddy...
We finally made her sit down and read to us, but it was pretty loud in there with all the parents and again, she was easily distracted. So we only read a couple of pages...(oh, and Ms Lydia said this is a 1st grade reading book)...
She's also doing 1st grade math books - addition and subtraction. Good grief! Before long, I'll have to be brushing up on MY math skills.
And lastly (well besides playing some games), she did a page out of her (assigned) workbook. Notice the grade level on the top of the book again? Grades 1-2.
Again, I could go on and on about how well she is doing there. I only hope we can continue her education there through Kindergarten. It'll be tough financially (since Brenna will be there next year too!), but I know it is so worth it.
