I'm a little bit extra partial to Easter - as Brooke was born on Easter Sunday. Of course, it falls on a different day every year, but 4 yrs ago, it was on Mar 27 and every year on Easter, it's hard for me NOT to remember how we got up for church that morning...when my water broke.
Notice how DARK it is when Brenna was out there - it looked light nighttime, but this was 8 o'clock in the morning...right as the thunderstorms were moving in. So afterwards, we headed to Sunday School and church. They had an Easter Egg hunt planned at church - usually outside, but because of the early morning rain, they just hid eggs inside their Sunday School rooms this year, which was fun and worked out better for us anyway. Since Brenna adn Brooke otherwise would've been divided into different age groups (usually they do age groups 0-3, 4-6, etc outside). Plus I think a lot of people stayed home or were out of town or something. There were not very many kids at all - for Easter Sunday especially! That was all the kids in Brooke's room. And one of them was a 'visitor'. Normally there are anywhere from 8-11 kids in her class, so a lot were missing, which as I said, made it ok for us - all the more eggs my dear....
Then, we headed home after church. And amazingly, our front yard was completely covered in eggs when we got home! Wow!
Brooke thought it so funny that the Easter Bunny left confetti eggs too! And had a blast hitting Daddy over the head with them. :-DBrooke was sure to share the 'safe' eggs (the ones with no candy or little hard toys or otherwise deemed inappropriate by the expert baby handler - aka Brooke) with Brenna. Though, Brenna was happy to give them right back. That's her new thing, picking up everything and giving it to you. She has become quite the efficient vacuum cleaner. :-)Brooke's stash - these don't include the ones from previous hunts or the ones from church...Then, after all the eggs were collected and all the confetti dispersed, we ran to the backyard to check the nests!Brooke SCORED big time! Apparently the Easter Bunny was able to obtain 2 Tag books for free! And two books for $5 each! Plus a lot of other small goodies - candy necklaces, moon sand, pencils and pad, etc... Though her favorite is probably the pink and purple slime - ewwww!Brenna got much more practical stuff - except for the duck in the above picture. She got some new pacifiers (how did the Easter Bunny know we keep losing them?), a couple teethers, small Dr Seuss book, etc.
So, all in all we had a great day, despite the forecast of terrible showers. It only rained briefly in the morning and not even enough to make the ground too wet for egg hunting. We went and had lunch afterwards and spent the rest of the day relaxing and cleaning up.
I love love Easter...for the obvious spiritual reasons as well as its so fun for the kids and less expensive than Christmas. Plus most other people don't 'do up' Easter as much so we get to spend much more time with just our little family and I love it!
I hope everyone had a FABulous Easter!
