Sippies, PaPoo, and Braids

Random title right? Well, this is a post of the hodgepodge of things that have been happening the last few days at our house.

First off, we took Brenna to the doctor this past week. Not for a checkup, but because the endless crying of the day led me to it. I had suspected something just not being right with her the last couple weeks. You might remember me mentioning her struggling with nursing before - or me struggling with how she was nursing *wink wink* . Anyway, she was uncomfortable to say the least. She's been more fussy than usual. And the straw that made me call the doctor was when she cried for 2 hours straight. I intended to just ask if we needed to up her reflux meds dosage, but they said the standard..."we'd have to see her/weigh her to be sure." So, off we go. He is pretty certain that is what is causing all this commotion in our lives. Here I thought she had outgrown it, but he said, chances not. So, he changed her meds to a stronger one - Prevacid. And again, strongly encouraged us to start some solids after the new meds had a chance in her system. He is pretty confident that both will help. Oh and yea, the new medicine is 3-4 times the price. :o ! But we'll see if it works. Hadn't noticed a difference yet, but she's only been on it for two full days. Hmmm....

And it looks like we'll be starting the solids sometime next week. *sniff sniff* We are trying to hold onto the little baby and keep her from growing, but it's just not happening. She is 5 1/2 mos already, so I guess it's time to at least give her a little taste. :( Bittersweet.

In other news, we did give her her first go-round with a sippy cup (the first of the title post). Brooke never did a sippy - still doesn't. She has no clue what to do with it to this day. But Brenna took to it like a charm. I gave it to her with just a small amt of water for what I thought would be her chewing on the spout and playing with it to try to occupy her time a little better while we ate dinner. Well, it didn't take her long to figure out how to get that good stuff out. LOL! She's been beginning to like water. Don't get me wrong - we haven't really given her water. She still only 'needs' breastmilk. But occassionally Brad would dip her pacifier in water or his finger and let her chew on it, etc. And she loved it! So, needless to say, the sippy cup is her new favorite thing. Now, I just have to watch to make sure she's not getting too much water and filling up on that. Either that or start giving her pumped milk in a cup.
Also, have I mentioned just how blonde her hair is getting?!?! She has a lot more hair than it looks in this picture, you just can't tell because it's so light!Today, my dad came to visit (PaPoo). Brooke enjoys spending time with him -playing in her room. She loves the attention and esp loves the cookies he always brings with him. : ) Oh...and the baked ham. It's the only ham she likes to eat. We call it "PaPoo's ham". :)
And to complete a random hodgepodge blog post, here's some cute pics. The cheapest matching outfits on the planet I believe. For both outfits, it cost me $16! :D $4 for each piece at Target on sale. Gotta love deals like those! And then in the last picture, Brooke insisted that Brenna have braids like her (its a headband with braids attached that Brooke got for Christmas a couple years ago). Enjoy!
