God's artwork

As we were outside swinging, Brooke noticed this in the sky....

And she was sooo excited and exclaimed, "Look Mommy! God is drawing a line in the sky! I think he's making a 'B'. Maybe He's going to write my name!!!"

Speaking of swinging, I'm so thankful she's finally learning to swing herself, not needing to be pushed. You know, by using her legs? Anyway, she has never been much of a swing kinda girl. In fact for a while, she wanted nothing to do with them. Then just when she started trying out the 'big kid' swings (the ones with no backs) at church, a fellow parent was pushing her and pushing her and pushing her and she was really high (and I am so not exagerating...she was REALLY high) and fell out flat on her back. I just knew she'd be scarred for life, or at least for a few weeks. But she wasn't and now she really enjoys swinging most of the time. And now she's able to do it herself! Yay!

And yes, I know, in the picture above, she is still in a swing with a back b/c we haven't had time to make a trip to Lowe's to buy an extra piece of chain to hang her other 'big kid' swing. We already have it, just don't have it hung yet and we're planning on leaving this one up for Brenna.

Also, here's a random picture of her playing soccer with Bailey, a favorite pasttime for both of them...

And it is worth mentioning that it is so great outside here now. It is FINALLY getting cooler! (as in out of the 80's) We only have two seasons here (you may be noticing the green grass in late October), so we get really excited when it gets cold enough to wear long sleeves, jackets and have a fire in the fireplace.

And in other news, we're all in the process of making the rounds to get our flu shots. Brenna had hers at her well-check and Brooke has an appt for hers this week. I explained to her about the flu shot and what it was for, etc. That the flu is a really really bad sickness, where she would throw up and get diarrhea and fever and headaches and worst of all, couldn't go to school for weeks! And that the flu shot would not let her get the flu. Her response? "Well, Mommy, we don't have any flus around here so I really don't need a flu shot." :-)
