Today was Brooke's first day back at school. We went ahead and kept her in Montessori School. She will be going every day from 8:30-11:30. We felt it best to work with her/our schedule. That way she can come home, eat lunch and still take a nap (hopefully). We were really way pleased with her success over the short summer program that she did there. It impresses me how quiet and calm the school is. Which is perfect for Brooke's personality - being quite reserved. There are no chaotic moments at this school, which tend to shut Brooke down. So, it is just perfect! Oh..and it's also less than a mile from our house, so super convenient on that front as well! I also love the fact she goes every day. WHile that part is a little less convenient on my part - I know the consistency of it all is great for her. Esp since in just a couple short years, she'll be going to "real" school. (yikes!) Anyway, she just loves her teacher and all her jobs that she does and is always so proud to show me her work. Montessori is child-led, so she can work on whatever she wants to at any given day and the teacher just guides her and teaches her how to do particular 'jobs'. Everything is down at their level - all the toys and activities are on shelves they can reach. They learn very quickly what's expected - you pull out one 'job', finish it, and put it up before beginning another. Even today, just the first day of school, she had a stack of work in her drawer. I am so excited for her to have the opportunity to be going to school there - I know she is going to thrive!
And you know me, dorky mom. I had to take pictures of her "first day of school". :)
