So. Explain to me how it is that BOTH of my children thoroughly enjoy Johnny Cash. *Sigh* I guess I brought it on myself. Just goes to show, one mistake can haunt you for the rest of your life.
When Brooke was younger - maybe 18 mos-2? - we rented and watched Walk the Line. The movie about Johnny Cash. It was a good movie. And, don't worry....we watched it AFTER Brooke was in bed. But in so watching it, it kinda got me in the mood to listen to some of his music. Enter the "mistake". So, I rummaged through some of my old CDs from pre-kid existence and found Johnny Cash Live at San Quentin (yea...couldn't have been the clean version either right?). Popped it in - ONCE - just once to listen to some of the songs, being sure to fast forward thru the cussing parts.

Folks, that's all it took. Brooke was hooked. She might be the youngest Johnny Cash fan that could sing two songs completely through - Ring of Fire and Walk the Line before she was 2. My mistake. She would recognize his face and music anywhere now and will request to listen to his CD.
So, now...enter Brenna. Brooke still loves Johnny Cash and has since learned more of his songs (still the clean parts...still fast forwarding through the cussing) and will request it. I suppose that this is how Brenna has now come to love it.
You may ask, but how do you know that a 3-month old loves a song or CD? Hmmmm.....well, this is how it went. We had Brenna screaming in the car - she was ready to be out of the carseat after a long drive. Brooke pipes in, "I think she wants to listen to Johnny Cash." Yea...really. I'm sure a three month old has a preference at this point. But whatever. Anything to keep the older child content at this point since we can't handle two screaming kids simultaneously. So, in goes Johnny Cash - Walk the Line. The baby becomes silent. Not asleep....just silent and awake. And yes, eventually smiling.

Now, when Brenna goes to crying, we only have to put in Walk the Line. Before he gets to the first verse, all is quiet.
So how did I get to be so fortunate to have not one, but two of the littlest Johnny Cash fans on the planet?
Guess I should finally invest in the Children's Album he made... Didn't know he made a Children's Album? Click here to see for yourself!

This is hilarious! For their next birthday party, you should try to incorporate the Johnny Cash theme... you could totally start the next "big" thing - goodbye princesses, hello Johnny!
Oh and you know if you have another child that's a boy, you should name him... Jackson.
