We are starting to make this an annual event I think. We collect stuffed animals from the past year that the girls no longer play with or pick some cheap ones up at garage sales or whatever...keep up with them for months leading up to Christmas and then we send the kids in to deliver them to the residents of a local nursing home. It makes their day! And the kids enjoy it too for the most part. Especially the older ones. They can see the difference they are making for these people. I think Brooke gets a kick out of the old people wanting to just hug and love on her. :)
So proud of the kiddos for taking a minute to spread the joy of Christmas. In fact, later that night when we were getting them ready for bed, Brooke and I were talking about the day. We talked about how for some of those people, they might not get another Christmas present. How they have to live in their one room all the time with only visits from nurses and doctors. How some of them may not have family. And how much they enjoy seeing all the little kids smiling faces. And Brooke responds to this, after she thinks on it a while.... "I love you Mommy. I really don't need anything else in my life except my family - you and Daddy and Brenna." Me: "Awww! Really?!?! (raising an eyebrow)... so you don't want a Fijit (the toy she asked Santa for) anymore??" (half smiling/joking with her). Brooke: "Well, I do. But its not really that important. The only thing really important to me is my family. You and Daddy and Brenna and Barkley and Bailey. That's all I want."
Love this girl. :)
