...Into piano, that is. I really thought that it would be weeks of learning notes and where the notes were on the piano, etc. But that is the exact opposite of how Brooke is learning to play piano. And I am loving it! It keeps it fresh, new, exciting and happy learning for her. After only TWO lessons, she has played numerous songs, including these two very recognizable ones, using all 10 fingers and not looking at her hands! I'm impressed! :)
I love how so very quickly, she has been taught the proper position and posture (how far away to be from the piano) as well as some different reading music skills that weren't covered in Kindermusik. Hopefully she hasn't forgotten all her note names, because looking ahead in her books, I see that coming up very soon too. I can't explain how impressed I am that she is doing so well, but more so in the ability of the teacher to get them actually learning this stuff (so quickly!) and not just memorizing notes. And like I said, all this, in a matter of only TWO lessons! Her lessons are one hour in length, the first 30 minutes being spent on the piano, the second 30 minutes being spent doing a computer lab, consisting of games and learning tools referencing piano and finger numbers and pitches and notes and all kinds of stuff. I'm so excited over this, can you tell? :)
