My last day.....SURPRISE!

Today was my last day of teaching at Brooke's school. I felt kinda bad leaving with still a few weeks in my pregnancy to to go (and still needing the money) before the baby gets here, but part of me felt like I was starting to become a hinderence since I'm getting slower, etc. And part of me wants to be a bit selfish and have a few weeks to rest and still another part of me is starting to worry about pre-eclampsia and some other wierd discomforts.

Anyway, so I went in today (after SUCH a bad day yesterday - more on that later) and after preparing our classroom for the day, we normally have a group prayer time before we let the kiddos in for the day. Anyway, today when I went in for prayer time........SUPRISE! Prayer time was turned into a Baby Shower! I was in TOTAL SHOCK! There was flowers, THE best tasting cookies that were so cutely decorated, pink balloons and tons of goodies and necessities - a lot of diapers, wipes, etc. It was a huge laundry basket full of diapers, wipes, onsies, diaper genie refills, washclothes, soaps, lotions, and more! Plus some 'extras'. I think I almost cried cause I was so not expecting it. I thought, at most, I would get a card or something with some well wishes. And then of course, a lot of the kids' (parents) brought in some gifts too, which was so sweet and thoughtful. I think I'm still in shock that they did so much! This group of teachers (the staff, my co-workers) are really so great and have been so supportive. I don't know why I didn't expect this - I just thought they were being kind enough by letting me have the chair to sit in during Prayer time. :) I should've known something was off when one of the teachers pulled Brooke aside to give her a special bunny as a present to her. She made a point of telling her this was her present to have for being a big sister, etc. I was thinking 'what a wierd time to give her a gift' - she's still going to school next week? But then after all the stuff they gave me, I guess she didn't want Brooke to feel left out this afternoon when they helped load all the baby stuff in the car. It was so sweet of her to also remember Brooke. I'm telling you these teachers are really the greatest in the world!

Anyway, so I just felt pretty special instead of feeling guilty and it was so nice. I was really feelin' the love! I didn't have my camera with me (I mean it when I say I didn't expect anything!), but they took some pictures and are supposed to email them to me.

Oh...and also, Brooke's old teacher who had her baby in Feb stopped by as well with her new baby - which was a nice surprise as well - to get to see her before I left. We had the whole pregnancy bond the whole year together. Plus Brooke got to see her with the baby out of her tummy for a "visual aid". Cutest little girl too! Oooh...it makes me so excited to soon be having another sweet little girl.

So, anyway, I'm done teaching! For now! Hopefully, if I can stay off bedrest, I can get some things done! And maybe rest in the process as well. I'll finally have some child-free days for just a few weeks (while Brooke's still going to school)! Hmmmm....I wonder what it'll be like to go to Target all by myself?! Or to run errands without a 3yr old in tow?

It was kinda sad though to hug all my kids as they left....I have gotten to know this cute group of kids quite well along with the parents. Fortunately, I know I'll still see them around town, but to have to say 'goodbye' to them in the classroom setting was a little sad. They have grown up so much and are all so adorable in their own ways. I will miss them all, but I'm sure after we have the baby, I'll stop back in to see everyone!

These pictures posted below are ones I took once I got home of all the wonderful gifts I received. (why didn't I have my camera at work today?!) I just still cant' tell you how much in shock I am! I mean, really....it is just overwhelming to feel so loved! Thank you to everyone I work with - I am truly blessed to have known every one of you, worked with you, and to have you all as dear friends and supporters!

PS - As of the taking of these pictures, I haven't opened all the gifts, but just to give everyone an idea of what great things I was provided with...

and I just had to snatch one of the leftover cookies - they were so cute! Each 'onsie' was decorated a little different - and super yummy too!
